Vintage Virginia Wedding

This past April my husband and I celebrated the wedding of Joel's best friend, Peter, and his wife Karilee. Although I did not help coordinate this wedding, it was too sweet not to post and to go unnoticed! Peter and Kari's wedding has become one of my favorite weddings that I have been to. They have been soul mates since they were teenages, so the wedding was fairly large, filled with people who have watched their love grow throughout the years. Joel was a groomsmen, and as I sat in the audience as a guest, I was touched by the love in Peter's face. Which I will most definitely be including a full play by play of. Peter, don't hate me! It's a common saying in the wedding world to watch the groom's face as the bride makes her way down the isle, but this was different. You could look around and see the touched hearts of everyone watching. One by one the emotion made it's way down the line of groomsmen and from there, I'm not sure there was a dry eye in the congregation. As I was looking through the wedding pictures trying to select a 'few', I teared up all over again. The wedding day was captured by Tori Watson from Marvelous Things Photography.  Tori did an amazing job on capturing both the details and special moments from the wedding day. Plus, the editing style and black &whites are to die for. I hope Peter and Kari's wedding inspires you with peace, love, and ideas for your own special day for those of you planning your wedding.

I asked Kari to give a brief summary of advice for other Brides, Kari says, "My only tip for other brides is to make sure you are having fun. As crazy as all the planning can be, you will never do it again, hopefully, so enjoy it the first time, and never forget while you are planning to make time for the fiance. He's the whole reason you have this opportunity and you dont want him to regret asking!"
Thank you Kari!

The Veil: Along with the wedding gown, Kari's veil was also a sentimental piece for her. Her veil was her great great grandmother's. It was passed down through 12 generations of granddaughters before Kari.

The history of the Wedding Dress: Kari's wedding gown was originally worn by her grandmother in 1951. The gown was passed down through the years and worn by her Mother in 1981, then passed to Kari to wear in 2011.
